Family-Friendly Beach Activities in North Myrtle Beach

Here are some of our favorite beach activities that families can enjoy with their toddlers!
Search for shells
The best time to search for shells is at low tide or when the high tide begins to recede. Types of shells you may find along the beach are snail shells, lettered olive shells, and whelk shells.
Build a sandcastle
A sandcastle can be built with tools or no tools. All you need is some sand, water, and an imagination! Use the shells you found to decorate the castle.
This sandy version of the classic arcade game is tons of fun and gives your beach day an extra excitement. All you need to do is dig two trenches and build a pile of sand at the end. Dig a hole into the pile of sand and let the little ones roll small or medium-sized plastic balls or tennis balls into the hole.
Use a shovel or your hand to dig six holes into the sand in the shape of a pyramid. Dig two trenches along each side of the pyramid. Using small or medium-sized plastic balls or tennis balls, kids will roll the balls into the holes to score points.
Tips for the perfect beach day
Go early or go later
Get the best spot on the beach when you go earlier in the day. Visit later in the day to avoid the sun when it’s at its hottest.
Pack sand-proof snacks
Skip the diced fruit and opt for fruits that are easier to clean in case they get sandy. Granola bars provide that extra kick of energy needed for your beach day. Consider pouched foods like apple sauce and yogurt.
