Rainy Day Attractions in Myrtle Beach

Although the Myrtle Beach area is known for our warm, sunny weather – we aren’t by any means immune to the occasional rainy day. Although a few afternoon storms may put a damper on your beach plans, there is still plenty to do along the Grand Strand. Take a look at our favorite "rainy day" attractions and never let a little rain dampen your day again!

Ripley’s Aquarium

Explore your nautical side at the Ripley’s Aquarium. Conveniently located at Broadway at The Beach, this popular attraction showcases a variety of colorful marine exhibits. Favorites include Rainbow Rock, where guests will see some of their familiar favorites like characters from Finding Nemo, and Ray Bay, where guests can get up close and personal with friendly rays. There is also an interactive discovery center and a café where you can grab a quick bite to eat if you get hungry.

Frank Theaters

Head south to Murrells Inlet for a fun filled day at Frank Theaters. Although this venue does boast a large movie theater where you can catch that flick that you have been dying to see, it offers so much more. Get the group together for a little friendly competition at the bowling alley or challenge each other at the in house arcade. Franks also offers a full menu with traditional American favorites so you can fill up while you are playing. Finally, Franks combines kid fun and adult fun with a full bar area, so the grown-ups in the group can enjoy a tasty beverage during bowling, playing games, or even in the movie!

House of Blues

The best venue for live music can be found at the Myrtle Beach House of Blues. Located on the north end in Barefoot Landing, this venue has been rocking the Grand Strand for over 25 years. The House of Blues is known for hosting a variety of events throughout the year and attracting national talent to the area. Popular recent shows have been the Dave Chappelle stand up performance and the Darius Rucker concert. Come in just for a show or come in early for drinks and dinner at Crossroads, the in house restaurant that recently got a menu upgrade from acclaimed Chef Aaron Sanchez.

Surf’s Up Family Fun Center

Surf’s Up Family Fun Center is your one stop shop for an afternoon full of fun. Gear up for a little laser tag action where anything goes! Try and hit your opponents as you dodge their shots and make your way throughout the smoke and obstacle filled dark maze. Take a break and hit the arcade, filled with more than 60 games, then climb to new heights at the rock climbing facility. You can take a break at any point and refuel at the all you can eat pizza buffet. Surf’s Up is the perfect place to go to let the kids work off some energy!

WonderWorks

WonderWorks is a fun, interactive museum featuring over 100 fascinating exhibits. Children and parents alike thoroughly enjoy the WonderWorks experience where guests can do everything from experience a category one hurricane to ride a virtual roller coaster. Become a human lightning rod at the Tesla Coil exhibit and then lay on a bed of nails – if you dare. The best part about the experience is that WonderWorks is not only fun but also educational. Be sure to check out the blender bikes at the café where you can blend your own frozen drinks!
