What’s New in North Myrtle Beach

Planning a trip to North Myrtle Beach this summer?  Many changes are in the works along the Grand Strand and guests to the area can look forward to several new things to enjoy during their beach getaway! Check out some of the new things coming to the North Myrtle Beach area and add some to your vacation itinerary:

New Sports Complex – Don’t let the name fool you, this open-air venue is much more than just a sports complex. The pristine greens here offer several acres of outdoor space, several soccer and softball fields, an outdoor amphitheater, and two spacious play grounds. The sports complex hosts tournaments and events throughout the year that guests can attend and is also the perfect place for an afternoon picnic or play date.

Sea Turtle Exhibit at NMB History Museum – Have you ever wondered what a sea turtle skeleton looks like? This quirky South Carolina state animal is an endangered species and holds a special place to many of our residents. The North Myrtle Beach history museum recently announced a new sea turtle skeleton exhibit that will be on display at the museum beginning May 2nd. This would be a great activity to enjoy if you need to take a break from the sun and the sand!

New Shopping Center – “Coastal North Town Center” is underway and will provide a new shopping option for guests visiting the north end of the Grand Strand. The new shopping complex will include 30-40 new shops and restaurants and is scheduled to open towards the end of 2014. Though there are still several retail spaces up for grabs, confirmed stores include a new Hobby Lobby, Dick’s Sporting Goods, TJ Maxx, Rack Room Shoes, and a Publix grocery store.

Mellow Mushroom Comes to North Myrtle Beach – Pizza lovers will now have another place to enjoy their passion! Mellow Mushroom recently announced that they will be opening up another Grand Strand location, this time in North Myrtle Beach. They will occupy the former “Dirty Dick’s” restaurant along Highway 17 North. This family friendly eatery is known for their creative, high quality pizzas, wide selection of craft beers, and fast, friendly service.
