The months of November and December are packed with festive holiday events and you will find plenty to do during your beach retreat. From tree lightings to parades and holiday festivals, there will be plenty of holiday cheer to keep you busy. Dickens Christmas Show & Festival – November 14th-17th
Come one, come all to the largest holiday festival in the area. The main draw of this event is the Victorian Holiday Marketplace held at the Myrtle Beach Convention center. Here, guests will find hundreds of vendors offering everything from jewelry, art, and toys to specialty food items, gifts, and holiday décor. There will also be an elaborate Christmas tree display, walking holiday performers, and Santa Clause there to greet guests.
Lighting of The Landing – November 15th
Visit Barefoot Landing on Friday, November 15th for a festive tree lighting and to celebrate Santa’s arrival! A grand fireworks display at 7pm will mark Santa’s arrival and visitors can enjoy holiday music performances, free carousel rides, and more! The event will conclude with the annual lighting of the Barefoot Landing Christmas tree. This event is takes place from 7pm-9pm.
Tree Lighting at Broadway at The Beach – November 23rd
Kick start your holiday celebrations at the 19th annual tree lighting at Broadway at The Beach. The evening will include festive musical performances by local artists prior to the tree lighting. The event will conclude with a brilliant fireworks display at 8pm. This is a great affair for families and the perfect opportunity to do a little early Christmas shopping or enjoy dinner at one of Broadway’s restaurants. This event begins at 6pm.
Surfside Beach Turkey Trot – Nov.28th
Get a head start on kicking those holiday calories with the annual Turkey Trot in Surfside Beach. This event offers a 10K, 5K, and 1 mile portion in addition to a free kid’s tot trot. The race starts and ends along the Atlantic Ocean and showcases the beauty of Surfside Beach. The race begins at 8:30am promptly and runners are encouraged to arrive early.
Murrells Inlet Christmas Parade - December 1st
Head south to Murrells Inlet on Sunday, December 1st for a truly unique holiday event – the annual Christmas parade. This parade is full of boats, floats, cars, and walking groups and is fun for the whole family! The parade begins at 3:00pm and runs right along highway 17 from Wilcox Avenue to Pendergrass Avenue. Dress warm, bring chairs, and prepare for an afternoon full of Christmas fun!
Night of a Thousand Candles – Dec.5th – 21st
Come see Brookgreen Gardens come to life at their annual Night of a Thousand Candles event. As the name suggests, the gardens at Brookgreen will be beautifully decorated with thousands of sparkling lights and over 5,500 hand lit candles that make the whole park glow. Stroll the paths as you sip on hot cider and enjoy caroling and hand bells and take in the gorgeous surroundings. In addition, a dinner from Inlet Affairs will be available for purchase. This event runs from 3pm-10pm on weekends in December.
North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade – December 7th
The annual North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 7th from 5:30pm-7pm. This cheerful parade begins on Main Street and travels down Ocean Boulevard, so any location along Main Street will provide great views of the event. The parade will feature colorful floats, festive music and marching bands, and an appearance front Santa himself.
Atalaya Holiday Celebration – Dec.7th
Huntington State Beach Park and the Atalaya Castle will be decked out in holiday cheer for the annual Atalaya Holiday Celebration. The rooms of the castle will come alive from 11am – 4pm with beautiful decorations, a variety of craft vendor and good vendors, and live music. This event is perfect for families, so bring the whole group along for this merry afternoon.
Lunch With Santa – December 14th
Pack the family and head to the Barefoot Princess Riverboat on Saturday, December 14th for a once and a lifetime experience – lunch with Santa! He is visiting the Grand Strand from 10:45 – 12:45 that day and you can make a reservation to enjoy a casual hot dog lunch with him as you cruise around the Intracoastal Waterway.
