SC Attorney General visits Beach Cove Resort to address SC Police Chiefs Association

During this third week in October, Beach Cove Resort might be the safest place in the entire state of South Carolina. That's because we're visited each year by the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association for their annual conference, and our parking lots are lined with police cruisers and other law enforcement vehicles from all over the state.

This year for the 21st annual conference SC Attorney General Henry McMaster paid a visit to our resort as he and officials from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Department of Public Safety addressed our group on Friday morning.

We would like to thank all of the guests with the Police Chiefs Association for another great year at our resort, and also for their fine service in protecting us each and every day!

Ocean Boulevard's Hot Summer Nights brings plenty of action

The Hot Summer Nights program has kicked off in Myrtle Beach this week and offers some great family fun at the beach. The program runs into August and offers five nights of great activities at Plyler Park in the heart of Myrtle Beach. The schedule is:

Updated Fire Info; Accommodation Assistance for Evacuees

We have had many folks in our thoughts over the past couple of days whose homes have been evacuated due to the recent brushfires that have engulfed a large portion of Conway, west of the Intracoastal Waterway. Many have been evacuated and a number of homes have been lost.

We are offering a $39 rate with local identification for any folks who are displaced from their homes due to the fires, and will do so as long as we possibly can if longer term accommodations are needed. Please call us direct at (843) 918-9000 for more information.

For folks who are driving into Myrtle Beach this weekend, please adjust your travel route to enter the Myrtle Beach area via Highway 501 South. No areas east of the Intracoastal Waterway are in jeopardy (where we are located), and all roads and businesses remain open on this side of the waterway.

Beach Cove conference facilities are getting a facelift

We've been hard at work over the last couple of weeks giving a face lift to our Palmetto and Sea Pines Ballrooms and the prefunction space, after we spent the offseason renovating our lobby and public areas. We are excited to see these areas taking shape with new carpet, refinished walls and new furniture. With over 7,000 square feet our state of the art conference facilities also feature free wireless internet and full audio/video capabilities.

7 Myrtle Beach Courses Ranked in the Top 100 in the US

The May issue of Golf Digest has been released and Myrtle Beach has once again showed why so many call our area "The Golf Capital of the World" by having seven courses named to "America's Top 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses". Golf Digest produces this list every two years and Myrtle Beach continually dominates the rankings. For a comparison of how impressive it is to have 7 courses ranked within a 42 mile span, the entire state of California has 9 courses on the list while Florida had only four courses make the list throughout the whole state.

The courses to receive this great honor are: The Heritage Club (33), The Dunes Golf and Beach Club (38), Tidewater (41), Caledonia Golf and Fish Club (66), Grande Dunes Resort Course (77), Fazio Course at Barefoot (96) and Dye Club at Barefoot (99). Not only is Beach Cove a member to the prestigious Dunes Club, but we are also partners with all seven courses on the list and our golf director can arrange tee times for you on any of these great layouts. Freestyle Music Park Unveiled!

Myrtle Beach's former Hard Rock Park is receiving a face lift and a brand new name after one year of operation. The park was recently bought out by new owners and the vision is to create a more family friendly, more diverse environment than their predecessors. Freestyle Music Park was announced today as the new moniker for the park and with the new name came some hints at some new rides, new shows and changes to various areas of the venue. Freestyle Music Park will make its debut with its new identity over this coming Memorial Weekend.

As details develop on the park, we will continue to post updates. Tickets will be offered at a significantly discounted rate at our resort and our pricing should be available in the coming weeks ahead.

Monday After the Masters Returns for 15th Annual Event

Popular South Carolina music band, Hootie and the Blowfish are headed back to the Grand Strand this week as they host the 15th Annual Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am charity golf tournament at the Dye Club at Barefoot. This year will mark the 7th year that the event has been hosted on the Grand Strand, raising over $2.5 million in that time for junior golf and education charities, with last year's event raising funds over $450,000 alone.

The event kicks off on Sunday, April 12 with a Masters Viewing Party at the House of Blues followed by the fundraiser auction and will continue on Monday, April 13 with the celebrity golf tournament and will conclude Monday night with a concert put on by event hosts Hootie and the Blowfish.

The stars will be out in full force, as celebrities such as Samuel L. Jackson, Sterling Sharpe, Branford Marsalis, Jerome Bettis and many more will compete with PGA Tour golfers such as Chris DiMarco, Woody Austin and female golf legend Annika Sorenstam.

Bike Week to set its anchor at Myrtle Beach Mall

Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson Bike Week is BACK this May 8 - 17 and the central hub of all bike week activities has a new home, just a couple minuites outside our door. Myrtle Beach Harley Davdison recently announced that Myrtle Beach Mall (formerly Colonial Mall) is going to be their new home for all of the week's festivities. Located on Hwy 17 just north of the Hwy 22 exit, the Myrtle Beach Mall is located less than two miles from our property. The Mall has long had a variety of venders located around its property during bike week, but this will be the first year that Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson calls the Mall its home for bike week.

The Harley Owners Group will hold its official Pin Stop there, an event that was held last year at Hard Rock Park and Harley-Davidson will primarily offer demo rides between May 13 and 16.

Bike Week Participants Welcome at Beach Cove!

For as long as we can remember, the weekend after Mother's Day and Memorial Weekend have brought thousands of motorcycles and their owners to the Grand Strand for the Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson Spring Rally and the Atlantic Beach Bikefest, respectively.

With some ordinances relating specifically to motorcycles being put in place within Myrtle Beach city limits, there has been some confusion about whether or not our biker friends are welcome back to Beach Cove, and the answer to that question is a resounding YES!

First, the same great service, free covered parking and oceanfront accommodations that you have long been familiar with remain unchanged. We always look forward to hosting our biker friends, and this year is no different.

Second, with Beach Cove being located in North Myrtle Beach none of the ordinances that have been put in place will directly affect our area. All new regulations apply to Myrtle Beach city limits, and once you are outside that area, motorcycle activities remain as they have been in the past.

Before you arrive, we do suggest that you review the new ordinances that have been set in Myrtle Beach city limits. Again, keep in mind that these laws apply exclusively within the city limits of Myrtle Beach, and not to the entire Grand Strand. Gas Really Is Affordable Again!

After a long year for everyone's pocketbooks, there seems to be at least a glimmer of light through all of the craziness in the economy.....it's affordable to drive again. While we still wish that the price at the pumps fell relative to the price of oil nearly as fast as they rose, we are rejoicing that it is finally possible to fill a normal gas tank for under $40.

We have been fortunate in Myrtle Beach for gas prices to be low relative to the national average throughout the crisis, and we are thrilled that South Carolina's gas prices are currently the 7th lowest in the nation. We took a handful of snapshots of some fuel prices over the past couple of days and you see the lowest and highest prices that we found in our short drive. The member clubs, Sam's Club and Costco not surprisingly came in lowest and well.....we won't name the highest culprit.

The best news through all of this for all of our friends who stay with us is that many of our special offers have reflected the state of the prices at the pumps and the economy at large, so in many cases even in spite of the rising gas prices, many folks have been able to spend less to get to Myrtle Beach and stay with us in 2008 for less than it cost in 2007. And this is a great time to head to the beach with our room rates being at their most affordable point all year long.
