Night of a thousand candles.jpg

Myrtle Beach offers a lot of great entertainment options for the Christmas season, but one of our favorites has long been the Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens.  Each year the over the weekends preceeding Christmas, Brookgreen Gardens, which is generally recognized as one of the most beautiful places in the country, set the walkways and garden paths aglow with literally thousands of candles and luminaries as musicians perform and carolers sing Christmas classics.

This year's events are held on December 5 & 6, December 12 & 13 and December 18, 19 & 20, and each of these seven nights will feature entertainment by Rocky Fretz on piano, Vocal Edition, Bill Oberst, Jr. in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, hand bell choirs and much more.

Tickets will be on sale from October 1 through November 30, 2008, and will be available at Brookgreen’s Admission Plaza and Lowcountry Information Center or by phone at (843) 235-6016. There will be a $1 processing fee to mail tickets.  Advance adult tickets are $12.  In December, adult tickets are $15 and child tickets (ages 6-12) are $6.  All children ages five and under are free.

It's always hard to believe that it's that time of year when the Christmas circulars start showing up in our Sunday newspaper and decorations start appearing in malls and shops, but here we are again with the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" knocking on our door.  Myrtle Beach has long been a Christmas wonderland of its own with all of the great Christmas shows and the great shopping that is offered around town, and now The Palace Theatre has announced a special presentation of the Nutcracker - A Magical Holiday Treat.

The Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre makes their special visit to The Palace on December 7th and 8th for this holiday classic.  The showtimes are December 7th at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM and on December 8th at 10:00 AM.  Adult tickets are $25 each and kids 3 to 12 are $10 each.

For more details click to visit The Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre web site or click to visit The Palace Theatre's web site.
Myrtle Beach Golf Instruction.jpg Whether you're looking to learn the game of golf from square one or you're looking to shave some strokes off of your handicap, there's no better way to get full enjoyment out of the game of golf than to get lessons from a PGA Teaching Professional.  And as the widely recognized "Golf Capital of the World", Myrtle Beach has plenty of great teaching professionals that can help you improve your game.  Well two golf schools in Myrtle Beach have now been recognized as two of the Top 25 Golf Schools in America by Golf Magazine.

The Classic Swing Golf School at Legends Golf Club and the Ritson-Sole Golf School at Pawley's Plantation were both honored in this prestigious list in the November issue of Golf Magazine.  Both golf schools have actually been recognized for a number of years on this list, and offer what is by the best value of any of the other 25 schools on the list.

Of course with such a great honor for these two schools, we would be remiss if we didn't mention that Myrtle Beach has many other great places to learn to improve your golf swing.  The Grande Dunes offers instruction from Brad Redding, who is a Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher in America.  Nick Bradley, who is the swing teacher of world ranked top 10 player Justin Rose, calls the Barefoot Golf Club his home for his Myrtle Beach golf school.
