We are excited to announce that Beach Cove has been selected as one of the host resorts for a wonderful event that has been put together by the New Jersey Firemen's Benevolent Association and our air partner, Myrtle Beach Direct Air, the FLASH (Firemen's Land And Sea Holiday) Golf and Fishing Fundraiser with proceeds going to the families of the "Charleston 9", a group of courageous men who lost their lives while fighting a fire on June 18, 2007. This event, the first national fundraiser put on by the NJFMBA, will be held November 12 -16 and will feature golf at area golf courses including Blackmoor, Arrowhead, Wild Wing, Caledonia, True Blue and others, and deep sea fishing trips for the non golfers. Organized events will be hosted by Martin's PGA Tour SuperStore and 2001 Nightclub as part of the package. While attendance for this inaugural event is expected at anywhere from 500 - 1000 participants comprised of firefighters and friends from all over the country, the event is open to the public to assist in raising funds for this great cause. For more details on the event please visit the FMBA FLASH event web site or call Jo Ann Fusco at (732) 499-9250. After the jump we found a moving tribute to the 9 great men who lost their lives last June.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will be welcoming future Hall of Famer and 300 game winner Tom Glavine to the pitcher's mound tonight as he makes a rehab start as he returns from injury and prepares to rejoin the Pelicans' big league parent club, the Atlanta Braves.
Glavine will mark the second appearance for the Pelicans by a National League all star pitcher this season after Mike Hampton made a start for Myrtle Beach in July. This however, will be the first appearance for the Pelicans by a sure fire baseball Hall of Famer, and a sell out crowd is expected to be in attendance to witness this historic occasion.
The Pelicans are celebrating their 10th year in Myrtle Beach and have had quite a season to celebrate the anniversary. Not only have they clinched a playoff berth by wrapping up the first half title, but they also hosted a spectacular all star game between the Carolina League and California League, which brought stars Vanna White, Pelicans investor Eddie George and the now notorious Roger Clemens among the record setting crowd.
As a sponsor of the Pelicans, we are proud to put our name behind such great family entertainment!

It looks like our "secret" seems to be getting out, though at this point it really isn't much of a secret anymore: Myrtle Beach is one of the greatest places to take a vacation! The world's foremost print and online newspaper, the New York Times, released their "Top 31 Places to Go This Summer" and listed Myrtle Beach as the number six on the list. While the article gave top billing to Hard Rock Park, there is no doubt that Myrtle Beach earned the spot because of ALL of the great things to do here and for the great value that we offer for families, couples, golfers....well really, everyone! The introduction of the article notes that there are no destinations on the list outside of North America due to all of the rising costs of travel, whether it be airline tickets or gas for the car. The best part about Myrtle Beach is that the family can hop in the car and arrive for a little beach time that same day. Now this summer, we are offering loads of savings to help beat those high has prices....savings so great that even with higher gas prices you just might be able to take a vacation for less money than last year! Click Here for the New York Times article.
In an effort to give back to our community, we have recently jumped aboard a program to assist the Waccamaw Community Foundation (WCF). The program, called "Power In Change" is designed to assist the WCF's Educational Fund, a fund that makes educational initiatives its only priority. Because of the large volume of people that we are fortunate to have stay with us, the WCF created a program where guests could simply put any loose change that might be in their pockets into an envelope and place that envelope into a collection box at the front desk. The concept is that is a power in numbers and that small donations can add up to big change.
